Whispering Canyons Foundation, Inc.

Black and White of a Girl Laying on a Horse

The primary purpose of our Foundation is to provide under-privileged teen girls with the opportunity to learn horsemanship in a fun, safe, supervised, interactive manner. Horsemanship entails learning about the horse’s physical aspects, skills necessary to ride , and the basics of care for the animal. Horsemanship provides the opportunity for the students to learn the personal attributes of self-control, responsibility, respect, courage, self-esteem, and improve relationship skills with students involved.

It also provides physical exercise, knowledge, and therapeutic physical interaction with intelligent, sensitive, and responsive animals. These learning opportunities are of special value to under-privileged teen and pre-teen girls who may have fewer opportunities to learn these attributes at home.

We specialize in western style riding and philosophy. We encourage the girls to learn all the steps in caring and loving an animal. We are also affiliated with the Utah State Extension 4H program, Golden Hoofbeats Club.
